You can use it as it comes. The 4000-grit box finish is a smooth, sanded surface that reads the midlane cleanly and still gets down the lane, for a smooth, controlled read. For an earlier, stronger read on heavier oil, have your pro shop take it down with a lower-grit pad, or polish it for more length when the lanes dry. Wipe the cover with an approved reactive ball cleaner after every session and deep clean it periodically to keep the traction consistent.
